I was thinking about my upcoming trip to Jackson Hole and I was thinking I will need material to watch on the 5 hour plane trip out there. I just noticed a pretty cool trick in Safari for saving flash videos from sites like youtube.com, break.com, and vimeo.com.
When you visit these sites, the flash player is just streaming a media file to your browser. Most sites don’t provide a download link, so I started looking around. If you bring up the Activity window in Safari (⌘+⌥+A) you can then scroll through and find the largest file, which is most likely the video file being streamed to you.

Once you find it, select it with the mouse and copy it to the clipboard using (⌘+C).
Next, open up your Downloads window (⌘+⌥+L) and the paste the url into the window using (⌘+V).

Now you can download the files and play them back when you are disconnected from the internet. The filenames will likely need to be renamed, and some sites limit the download speeds, but as far as I can tell, this always works.
Or, you could just listen to your audiobooks. I can think of one that you have that’s quite good..
